APPLYING PROBLEM-BASED-LEARNING (PBL) FOR
THE TOPIC OF SCIENTIFIC-METHOD IN BIOLOGY CLASS
By: Mei Rukmana
Based on the contructivism theory, learning is an activity to obtain information in order to develop knowledge. Nurhadi (in Baharuddin, 2010: 116) said that students need to improve their knowledge by solving problems given by the teacher. Problem based learning (PBL) is one of the learning models which facilitate the students to contruct their knowledge by solving problems (Arends in Trianto, 2010: 92).
PBL has four components in learning process, they are:
1. Problem orientation
2. Small group discussion
3. Independent study
4. Exchange of information
